Volgarr the viking patch. Samson-Anytime!Dancin-Good retreadSunrise-Does Not have ending vocal yet.Passenger- They don't emphasize that riff live.some Strange lyrics for this tune but'What is a man, deep down inside' just nails it.Really like hearing Bob & Donna singing together.Circle Games???Estimated-One of Weir's best.FIRE-completes SCARLETEQUINOX- A never released tune!MERCY of a fool.TERRAPIN-Not sure why this tune has gotten some flack over the years. It always was great when i caught it live from 84-93The old Mars Hotel filler is pretty interesting:although it needs Donna's down and dirty'What she wants!!!'

Also like that Weir Lyric'Bible, says, robbing banks a sin'Money, Money lyrically is Loose Lucy on Steroids. Dylan Said: 'Money Money, is goofy and makes Bobby nearly explode. I'm glad they never played this one live, despite liking the studio track. Since these songs were never played live this is virtually the only frame of reference we have to hear what these songs might have sounded like played live by the Grateful Dead.' They played Money, Money in May of 1974 several times and it sounded just like the album, not laid back and slow like hear.

They play it a number of times that month and it really rocked. I love the Terrapin Station album because of its overzelous production. This setlist shows us what we could have expected from those Terrapin studio days had they not been produced so 'sleakly'.Bobby leads this session and Jerry is tamer on pretty much everything. I don't think Jer is having as good of a time as Donna or Bobby either and we can hear it in the playing which pales in comparison from live material that would come in later months (May)What makes this session badass is the Mars Hotel live bustout. All the songs that never got played live from the Mars Hotel album are played live. Two are Phil songs. This sounds great in concept but it is obvious he isn't up to par with his vocals pre-75. But Phil is having fun with his songs and its great to hear Unbroken Chain and Pride of Cucamonga 'live' even though both have false starts (as called by Phil of course.)Money Money, is goofy and makes Bobby nearly explode.

I'm glad they never played this one live, despite liking the studio track. Since these songs were never played live this is virtually the only frame of reference we have to hear what these songs might have sounded like played live by the Grateful Dead.As i said before, the rest is kind of sloppy and uninspired minus an energetic Passenger which is played diferently from how it was ever played live. The Feb 20 outtakes are much better. Here, Bob and Donna are at their worse on Samson and Sunrise, and Jerry's keeps his guitar mostly bottled up. Estimated Prophet is one of the better pieces here, though not exactly a great performance. Equinox is awful. This Terrapin Station is worth keeping. It's a good effort and lacks the overproduction of the released album.

Grateful dead live albums ranked

It includes a rare performance of the At a Siding section, but without the strings and horns of the released album.FYI, there are more Mars outtakes in the 1974 section. Great quality studio outtakes. Fun Dancin', breezy Passenger, lots of different lyrics in Fire On The Mountain ('Out of the rattrap and under the wire / Skip past the skillet right into the fire'), and the Equinox exit jam even sounds a little like Throwin' Stones jam from years later.

The Mars Hotel outtakes have a bit of hiss, but are valuable nonetheless. And I'd like to show great appreciation to ARCHIVE.ORG for adding the Grateful Dead to the already amazing amount of audio and video on the site.
